40 Minute Soothing Seated Yin Yoga Practice
Thank you for being here and thank yourself for showing up for this practice ♡ ̆̈
Yin yoga is a beautiful way to connect with deeper aspects of yourself. By staying in each pose for a longer period of time, we begin to access new layers of ourselves that daily life might not allow us to attend to.
I encourage you to go gently with yourself and be very compassionate towards your body when you practice yin. You are exploring the consciousness of your entire being and books like ‘The Body Keeps the Score’ (by Bessel van der Kolk) have found that we store trauma and emotions in the body.
In yin yoga we are tapping into the connective tissue, the fascia, which plays a fascinating role in emotional stress and trauma. If emotions and trauma are stored away in our fascia it means that we are not aware of it. It’s like the stuff we store away at the back of cupboards only to discover it years later when we eventually organize or move. It’s a difficult task to address trauma that has been moved to the background so it requires a release to heal.
Give yourself time and space after the practice to integrate and absorb all the benefits. Drink a lot of water and try to stay disconnected from the outer world for a while to really nourish your inner being ❤︎
